Abstract:

The grain aphid Sitobion avenae is a major agricultural pest and causes occasionally strong damages to wheat during spring. In France, S. avenae’'s dynamics can be represented as a wave from south-west to north-east, linked to the cline of winter and spring temperatures and to wheat’ growth stage. Build ups are difficult to predict due to heterogeneous distribution of aphids in the landscape at different times; therefore it is important to design a spatially explicit Decision Support System (DSS) for optimizing insecticides treatment. In order to represent this phenomenon, we develop convection-diffusion–-reaction equations.
